Ship Sea

Hi!

Its been, well, a while past July 4th to put it simply :0. In all fairness I DID mean the 5th since the 4th was a Saturday and not a Sunday but even so, its been a tiny bit over two weeks.

But we’re back now! I’m happy to write again, to whoever may read this :D.

Safe to say I VASTLY overestimated how tiring the move would be. If I’m being honest, I didn’t even consider the move when I did the break, at least how it’d leave me mentally, my thought process was more along the lines of “Ill just put all my stuff there and post right after!”, and oh how naive it was :’).

So, the move! You may recall from the last post I made on moving out (something like a year ago now) to headingley that it was quite miserable to say the least. I was trying to keep an open mind, but the state of my room, alongside the rest of the house being a disheveled mess with the roommates not caring, sent me reeling quite bad in the month or two it took me to adjust.

Thankfully this time it wasnt anywhere near as bad tho, especially in terms of adjusting. The house is in a MUCH better state than my last place, and though my room was in a pretty bad state, it wasnt anywhere near as egregious, so cleanup ended up fine. I’ve sort of been dying to put my posters up tho, since the repairs arent done, and I’d say the first couple of days, especially the day after the move where they removed the carpets for the WHOLE HOUSE was a pain, but nothing a good meal deal didnt help with :p.

O, and for having gotten my stuff here in the first place, I ended up caving and getting a mover! It took a huge chunk out of the bit of money I had saved up, so im kinda broke this month, but god knows there was basically no other choice. Thankfully though, seeing as how even the mention of it was a bit of an afterthought, it went so smoothly after I made the decision it ended up being worth it :). I ended up going with greenhouse removals, and the guy that helped me move, Edward, was really sweet.

Past that though, living with people you like is so cool! I mean seriously, the difference is unbelievable. People actually CLEAN UP AFTER THEMSELVES PROPERLY, TAKE OUT THE TRASH, its beautiful :’).

Aside from the bare minimum though, since moving in we’ve also been doing weekly grocery shops and sitting in the dedicated lounge room, graciously titled the goon cave. People have been decorating the rooms, currently a weird blunt rotation with an even weirder addition coming in the near future (you genuinely wouldn’t guess it in a million years based on the current cast):

And we’ve just been playing Cuphead, and just started Danganronpa V3 with many, MANY snacks for a good time, its pretty cool.

Also, I’ve finally been able to get back on the 3ds now that I’ve got all this time on my hands! Specifically, I’ve been playing through all the pokemon games, trying to do them in chronological game order, using remaster where possible (so in my case firered and leafegreen). I say ‘trying to’ because when i first booted up the 3DS for the first time in a while, I didnt quite have it in me figure out firered (turns out it was SUPER easy to install though), so I just went with what was the oldest and already downloaded on the 3DS from when I last installed some games.

So ended up beating the next chronological title, Soulsilver instead :p.

This was my first full game pokemon completion, including the an elite 4 + champion face off and I somehow managed to beat it on my second try, with JUST ALAKAZAM LEFT, while reviving in and out of him and lugia at the end, praying for an opening x).

It was a messy journey all around, and that gauntlet was all the same, but god it was so worth it.

Lugia was an awesome catch butch also an INSANE carry to say the least, she genuinely KO’d over half of the pokemon in the fight up to and against the champion and the win WOULD NOT have been possible without her.

Something similar can be said for alakazam, him and lugia share the psychic typing but in practice they couldnt be more different. Lugia TANKED hits with ease and was an unmovable powerhouse, whereas alakazam was speedy backup and helped reduce physical damage with reflect. Strong and speedy backup, with a little bit of utility sprinkled in ;).

Magneton also helped a lot with some weak typings that lugia and alakazam couldnt help with tho, while chikorita was the fallgirl if magneton couldnt help. A pretty reasonable exchange all around for these 4 crucial members, two sharing a typing and strong first options, and two versatile backups.

However, and this is a BIG however, that was basically where the team ended (;n_n).

Given the team, both lugia and entei should, IN THEORY, be the best pokemon in my party. Theyre exceptionally hard to catch, lugia took damn near half an hour and all my team dying on the story encounter with her in the game, and although you can catch entei pretty early in the game, he has similar HARD ASS catch rates as lugia and the other legendaries, and even tho its easy to bump into him, he flees the moment he can.

Still, I got lugia with a ton of effort, and cheesed entei with a master ball. guaranteeing the catch :p.

Lugia delivered HARD, but entei didnt do SQUAT. His damage was AWFUL, he died almost immediately after two hits, wasnt reliable EVEN WHEN HE HAD A TYPE ADVANTAGE, it was a mess and had me sweating fucking BUCKETTTTSSS.

Now, was it his fault anyways? Probably not. Again its my first full completion of a pokemon game, even with my experience I still have a lot to learn, which becomes more evident the more I think about why he didnt deliver.

I caught him right before fighting the elite 4 and champion, meaning he doesnt extra stats from fighting like the others, and I got unlucky with him having an impish nature, meaning his special attack is reduced and his defense is increased (keep in mind you cant change this and he’s literally A SPECIAL ATTACKER).

Possibly more importantly though, I didn’t teach him any teachable moves, same for all my other pokemon too. Part of the reason I didnt was, for chikorita at least, I accidentally taught her unremovable moves that are important for story progression, which hurt my heart to find out AFTER THE FACT :”)’, but also that im just not good at knowing which ones are good, you know?

So entei at least needs more work. Nidoking was just kinda just bad tho :p.

Now that I’m done with the champions though, I finally gained access to kanto from the firered and leafgreen games, which from my knowledge was revamped for soulsilver to have entirely new encounters, gym leaders, and rather than the elite 4 and champion, a showdown with RED, so I’m really looking forward to that now.

Instead of going there NOW though, Im currently playing through firered, and plan on beating the original kanto. Once thats done, I can come full circle and beat the soulsilver kanto, finishing things off with a bang, or at least I hope to :v.

And with that, I’ll finally be able to move past the first 2 games, into pokemon Emerald, black and white, and X and Y. I’m genuinely so excited :D.

So yea, I’ve been enjoying my time quite a lot as of l8. Despite the lethargy post-moving out and the money drain that it was, things turned out pretty cool in the end. Now that I’ve settled too (and finally pulled myself back into writing a post ;)) I can finally get back to studying, and other cool things I wanna do.

That is to say, it’s good to be back. The break was a bit long, and quite lazy, but well spent. Without over committing on making this a grand post or anything, I hope I can get back into the swing of things.

With that though, and even though I have a lot more I feel I could chew on with soulsilver alone, I’m gonna call it a day on this post for now, hope you enjoyed the read! For next post, sunday would end up being the 26th, my birthday! Which is pretty cool n_n.

Still though, its for that reason that I’ll have to delay the post to monday, since I plan on celebrating with friends. So given that, ill, ironically, still be seeing you all a week after this post! Sweet :3,

Till then though, I’m gonna go relax for a bit, maybe have some lunch. For now, see you later!
