Peep Up

Hello!

It’s been a slow week, mostly dealing with the impending doom of moving out but also with my consistently bonked up sleep schedule, and I’ve been slowly crawling my way to some sort goal all the while.

I wanna get stuff done again, I’ve been so lazy!

But also, I’d like to sit in the park, so that’s likely what I’ll do right after this, if I can find a nice place so late (or hell, if I can even finish this post in time).

Let’s start from the top though.

The week started off quite nice, with me just playing minecraft late at night, with the caveat that I was waking up quite late (around 2 pm all week). I enjoyed sort of just shooting the shit in vc for a while, and have been playing on a world on my own unmodded as well, since like I mentioned a while back I wanted to make some progress and eventually beat a personal world instead of just ditching it.

And let me tell you, we have been making STRIDES. It’s been mostly mining, but with the amount of diamonds near my house can you blame me? There are these two caves, one right by the house and one a bit farther, or maybe they arent seperate at all but actually connected? Honestly beats me.

Point is though that its SPRAWLING, just fucking MASSIVE, and very much feels like two separate places. One that I’ve explored quite a lot, and one I have only really recently wrung sort of dry.

Just with these two alone I managed to get a whole stack of diamonds, which was pretty neat. Still, I didnt want to put it to waste, given the next thing on my bucket list was exploring the nether, so I want with iron armor and kept the diamond tools.

O_O.

WHY IS IT SO FUCKING EVIL?????

Maybe im not used to being there alone, scratch that, AT ALL, BUT WHAT THE HELL?!!???

I wanted to have the portal in my house, but that didnt pan out at all since it just spawned me on a pillar seperate from a fortress by a good 20-30 blocks, and the mobs were immediately ON MY ASS. It didnt even take less than a few seconds and the blazes were shooting at me, which I had to cover, only to then immediately hear two ghasts, have one shoot, manage, then the other one break my footing and kill me.

Mind you, it hasnt even been a minute yet, and WHAT.

Okay, I think, I can at least just put the portal by where the fortress would be, right? Sure. I asked some friends to confirm, and luckily for me there was already a broken nether portal around where I was going, so that was convenient. That, AND I can get to the fortress from there!

Lovely :D!

It wasnt lovely ~_~.

Taking a short path and mining down, you’d be at the fortess (at least, thats what I think all those hallways are called), but only at the top of the fortress! I didnt quite catch that immediately when I mined to be right on top of it, so just excitedly got out of the hole id dug and, when I noticed, decided to look around regardless before digging into the fortress.

O my lord, why did I do this.

You see, the top of the fortress was underneath a sizeable amount of land. Not noticing the implications, yours truly decided it was a great idea to just brazenly look round anyways, fighting off a blaze and a withered skeleton or two on the top of the fortress.

Which itself SUCKED cause I was scared SHITLESS at the thought of falling, so ended up building around me more than anything.

Also, sidenote, withered skeletons SUCK. HOLY SHIT. Like I get blazes, at least theyre burns dont last too long and do little damage, but these little shits GNAW AT YOUR HEALTH. And both at once is a fucking horrible combination.

I fight a couple, and get their loot, only to notice I got kinda low, 2 or 3 hearts-ish. So, naturally its time to go back, right?

When I tell you I stepped a mere foot, A SINGLE STEP back to the whole the amount of mobs that fell from above, seemingly out of the sky, it fucking BROKE ME. I WAS SLAUGHTERED.

It was admittedly very funny.

I WAS FUCKING SUFFERING >:0.

By this point I was on such an adrenaline rush I couldnt even describe it. I genuinely bolted to get my diamond armor, thinking it would only be a minute to kill the mobs and get the old stuff back, and id be back home safe and sound, but there were SO MANY.

Long story short, I died twice after, that time and another time making more iron armor, DONT JUDGE ME I WASNT READY >:l.

It was pretty fun, but also fucking exhausting, so after clearing up the top I knew shit was NOT sweet, and that we’d need some renovations. So I finally just dug further straight into the fortress, even added a bit to a part of the fortress that was open from the top, seemingly nearly connected to another fortress, sorta just blocked by fences.

I was able to get a grip on things at that point, and got some nice stuff (frankly, way too many saddles) but it was fun. Having done that and found a blaze spawner that I wasnt at all prepared to deal with, I called it a day.

Pretty cool! And especially modded with friends, like with cobblemon, minecraft is pretty fun.

Aside from that though, it has mostly been moving out thats been on my mind. For as nice as itd be to have overlapping rent periods for two different properties, itd technically be a pain paying for both at once, right? In that sense, I got lucky, but in the other I very much didnt.

My current tenancy ends on the 29th, but the next house isnt until july 1st, worst part about being that neither place is offering to give me any leeway in terms of when I can move my stuff, I have to be out in full by the 29th and can only start moving stuff in on the 1st of the next months, so 2 and a half days later, not even including the long wait that’ll be actually getting the keys.

Its a bit of a hot mess, at least I thought it was, but sitting with the situation a bit more it doesnt actually seem to be all that bad. The plan is simple, just rent a storage unit to hold my boxes for a week, then move them in before the 29th and move stuff out after I get the new place, and obviously have a place to stay in the time being.

The latter is pretty easy to deal with, I have a friend who’s willing to let me crash, but the former has a lot of minutiae that isnt nice to sit with until everything is properly addressed, like where do I even get the boxes, what storage place, initially I wasnt sure for how long either or how much itd cost, not to mention the process of moving all the boxes on my own or how to manage in time, so I’ve sort of just been ironing those out.

The whole ordeal ended up giving me an excuse to go to ikea again, which was pretty sweet. I ended up getting the boxes from there, alongside a new stainless steel pan and pot since my pan was long gone cause of the coating on the bottom that was exposed, and the pot having the same issue rear its ugly head this past week (if we’re being honest though, the signs were obvious ever since I ate out of it with chopsticks a while back).

And let me just say for a minute that I dont get why the FUCK you would EVER SELL ANYTHING OTHER THAN STAINLESS STEEL, in fact its the opposite in most stores near me the SELL EVERYTHING BUT STAINLESS STEEL, but we finally managed to rectify that :p.

I mean seriously, the stupid coating you have to manage, the time it takes to heat up compared to stainless steel, most pots and pans, especially the non-stick kind I was stuck with casue of local availability, genuinely dont hold a sliver of a sliver of a candle to the worst stainless steel pots and pans in terms of utility. They last longer, they heat up faster, you can eat on them so much easier, theyre so much FUCKING BETTER.

At least, thats the impression I got from everything I’ve seen before and after using them, and so far I havent been disproven, we’ll just have to see though.

Aside from that, the boxes were really hard to get home. Not just because of they’re dimensions, made it impossible to hold it with one hand while folded, but that particular day was windy as shit, so I had to FIGHT THE WIND from taking my shit! Not to mention the already hour long trip time, and the bus stop waiting, it was kinda brutal. But at the very least, I think I’ve gotten used to it from all the other times I’ve had to pick up resulting in a mix of both making my life a lot easier in the long run but also beating the fucking daylights out of me with how exhausting the trips are, like getting the piano directly from parcelforce warehouse cause they couldnt deliver it, or getting the …scott pilgrim volumes in a beat up box from… …the parcelforce warehouse cause they couldnt deliver it for some reason (god I fucking hate the incompetence but the people working there are really kind when I go to meet them).

THAT IS TO SAY that it went fine, and probably wont happen again if I need more boxes since I wont bother to buy anything thatd get in the way again, so all is good in the world.

I did buy two other things too though. One was just food containers, this time with closing lids since I made the mistake of buying some old ones without it, which makes them impossible to take out with me. But more importantly, I ended up getting a fleece rug.

At least, thats what I think its called, doesnt really matter for my purposes so we can just consider it what I’ll be using it as, a picnic blanket.

At some point in the week, I ended up taking a different route back home and wandered quite far, stumbling into a nearby park. And let me tell you, its GORGEOUS.

Its this seemingly neverending field of green grass occupied in part by these huge ass trees and a gate blocking some of the area, but in large part is this beautiful bed of grass, and ever since I passed by there I’ve wanted to visit at night. Mostly because I think the night is prettier than daytime, but even moreso for the stillness, and to be alone with a hefty amount of privacy, which itself is kinda a double edged sword when its not actually in a place where you cant bump into people or get in danger, I think.

With the compound I used to live in, leaving it would genuinely leave you with a vast emptiness, since that part of riyadh, the outskirts of it, just werent built yet, and so werent occupied at all. Plus, nobody bothered to wander outside, probably due to the rubble and some trash. In its own way tho, I found it all quite endearing, that part of living in riyadh really carved a place in my mind (you can see the full context in the night wander post if your interested).

But this isnt the same right? If I’m alone, I’m not DIRECTLY beside my house, nor am I truly alone, its a park! So its kinda iffy if its even safe, though ill find out soon enough (I seriously cant help myself Ive waited too long to night wander again).

More pressingly though, the grass makes my ass dirty! So yea thats why I bought the blanket, To cover that :).

I hope that it ends up being as fun as I’ve been anticipating. Id like to lose myself again, just walk around listening to music all on my lonesome, without people to interrupt, eyes to peer and judge, but maybe thats not a problem anyways, and honestly could be its own discussion.

Still though, It’ll be so pretty! Im excited.

With that being said though, I’ll be heading off. Truth be told I may not end up getting the chance due to the time it took to finish the post, moreso the weather which will probably have me delaying this for another day or two for the dirt to dry, but it all depends on how much of a drizzle there is going on outside after I walk out the door. Either there isnt and I go now, or I dont bother and go have dinner. Both work since either way, Ill come back home quite quick to sleep earlier than usual.

Forgot to mention that, but its been better the past two days, mostly because I’ve been forcing a 10 AM alarm, and am HARD READY to crash on my bed soon. That feeling of tiredness I think actually quite complements the night wander, but i’m happy to just hit the bed if the time calls for it, which the more I sit on it it probably does.

Im also pretty excited to read more re:zero either way, since I just finished arc 6! Yes, I got so impatient I just couldnt help myself but ILL LEAVE THAT FOR NEXT POST, alongside whatever comes from the last episode of the first half of season 4 later this wednesday. Its sure to be a great episode after all :).

That being said, I hope you enjoyed reading the post as much as I enjoyed writing it! Ill see you all next week, bye for now <3.
