FINALLY. FINALLY >:).

God was it such a ride getting this thing. Let me just say right off the bat that it did NOT get here on wednesday, or thursday or even friday as a matter of fact. I had to take my ass to their depot because they couldnt FOR THE LIFE OF THEM ship it to my address, even though it’s the most obvious flat in the city center AND I GAVE THEM EXTRA INSTRUCTIONS THE THIRD TIME AROUND (through a ticket to their support service that was then put on the box, you cant call there driver for some reason). It was atrocious, and so was the stuff that led to me deciding to stop keeping it in their hands and haul my ass 40 minutes from here to the depot by bus.

But I digress.

Actually no I do NOT digress THEY WERENT SUPPOSED TO SHIP IT THE THIRD TIME. I called them four, FOUR WHOLE TIMES ON FRIDAY. The first time was to see if they’d deliver it that day, he said the best they could do without a fee was monday. I was admittedly very unnecesarily impatient, I wanted to have it by the time i’d post this, so I offered to pay for saturday delivery, which the man said they would call me to pay the fee. THEY NEVER CALLED. I called them 3 times after and each time theyd tell me they’d call soon, by 6 at the latest since that’s when they’d close, AND THEY DIDNT CALL. I LITERALLY WANTED THEM TO TAKE MY MONEY AND THEY REFUSED, REFUUUUUUUUUSED.

So I decided after six to register it for pickup rather than delivery on the site, and woke up at 5:40 am in the morning the next day to just get the junk myself. Tell me why THEY DIDNT HAVE IT. THEY DIDNT EVEN KNOW WHY since the smartass driver DIDNT SCAN IT BEFORE HE LEFT, they only found out after he’d come back (and when I was back home), and keep in mind I only got home at 11 pm, so that’s 5 hours gone, and a back on forth from the depot in blinding sunlight.

Admittedly I didnt mind the trip , the greenery was gorgeous and it smelled really nice :), but the sun was still out to get me >:(.

So given all that, how’s it here? Well, the guy at the depot took my number before I left to keep in touch, honestly I didnt expect much to come out of it since the guy from pmt, the store I bought the piano from, did the same thing and never called back on thursday, so did parcelforce themselves when they were supposed to call for a saturday delivery payment, even when the call was for me TO GIVE THEM MONEY, but THEY STILL DID A SATURDAY DELIVERY????????????????

Anyhow, this absolute godsend actually called me to update me on the whole escapade at 1:40 pm, past their saturday closing time of 12:20 pm, and said I was free to come over and pick it up until 3 pm, which was when the place would be empty, MY MAN :). He gennuinely made my day, the only person out of the FOUR OR SO people i’d called over the past few days trying to understand what the hell was happening with the piano, alongisde his cool as fuck manager. She came out of the depot to let me in and take the piano, and we had a chat about the situation. She said she would’ve been willing to bring it to me the next day herself if I hadnt shown up to get it which, even if untrue was way too sweet of her and I appreciate it nonetheless <3. She also seems like a big horror fan, had a halloween shirt on and figurine in the office, which was fun to see. Both amazing people, god bless them they make parcelforce seem like a nice and competent company, despite the fact that all three times they tried to deliver the piano to my address they NEVER COULD.

(if your wondering why I know they didnt make it to my address the third time, its cuz they leave a note for you when your not home. All three times, including when I got back home from the depot, he never left a letter that suggested he actually made it to at least the outside of the flat building, which he’s supposed to leave so you know what to do next about the package)

I got there, took it and uber’d back. at this point it was like 4 pm, but given the day i’d just had + the lack of sleep from staying up a bit late the day before, I set the piano up, did some other menial tasks and BROKE onto my bed, then proceeded to sleep for 11 hours.

Its been a stressful week given this and the assignments ramping up

But DAMN was that sleep good.

And now here we are :).

Truth be told, I did get it early to play you guys something this post, but im much rustier now and can’t really play either 2 (more like 1.25) of the songs that I learned to play in jeddah. Also im just very tired. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO maybe some other time :p.

For now i’ll be saving up for a stand cuz the table is way too high for comfortable piano playing, then piano classes in like 2 months from now which im really excited for. Not to say I won’t be messing with it in the meantime though, just the past two days have been really fun :).

(Almost forgot to explain this but the reason I gotta wait so long and save up longer is cuz I went with the FP-10 instead of yamaha’s P-45, a much better piano and the P-45 was out of stock but you can imagine given the 110 pound price difference it’ll take me a lot longer to get the rest of the biznits done :p)

Look out for that some post in the (hopefully) near future, probably after exams though tbh cuz again, assignments and even classes ARE RAMPING UP.

We had a formative coursework due last week, alongside a math exam from home worth 25% of the course. We’ve also got classes on thursday too now, and each day has way more hours of class time, just tuesday alone is a literal 9-5 now (with an hour break in between), which is neat. I dont mind, as silly as it is I want to study more right now so I can make sure I pass, but alongide each subject having their formative (marked) exams coming soon, there are a ton of assignments that’ll be due for each subject soon, its a bunch.

I hate that the lab report is due this week, I hate physics I JUST WANNA CODE AND DO MATH STUFF ON THE SIDE >:(, but whatever. Just a couple more months of this bologne and we’ll have our break, then comp sci <3, my beloved.

Im drawing my album covers digitally, and it’s been really fun :). I’ve been drawing on krita, which is a bit harder to learn than the ibis paint but it’s FOSS and its fucking POWERFUL, I like it a lot (I think I already said this b4 :0)

Im still learning, im sure thats obvious from the drawings themselves, but I learned a lot just drawing these two, escpecially while drawing keith haring’s dancing dogs (Imo it’s much more polished given the fact I actually seperate layers and drew from a sketch and stuff). Drew his stuff cuz its cool, and also since that’s what id originally drawn physically and took a pic of for the playlist art (I drew it during markowskys art class if ur wondering). Pocoyyo is just cute tho, and I used to watch him non stop during babyhood, figured he deserved some spotlioght after all these years.

Or im overthinking it and I should just keep it public, who knows.

There are a lot more playlists left to do, but can I just say god do I wish I made hodge podge earlier. It’s an all in one playlist, also private cuz I wanna do it’s cover first BUT ILL GET THAT DONE TRUST ME, I already know what I wanna do for it and it’ll be great.

It’s just that listening from my liked songs got a bit boring, both cuz I didnt have EVERY song from EVERY playlist + the liked songs like I (almost) do with hodge podge, and also because there are a bunch of old songs from late middle school/ highschool baha at the bottom of my liked songs, that I never listen to anymore given some of them are showing their age (but dont have the heart to get rid of). With hodge podge though im listening to EVERYTHING from ALL the playlists and ALL THE SHIT I HAVE (except those bottom liked songs) without needing to skip the old liked songs on shuffle, it lifts the burden of having to take care of what songs I put on my liked songs and I LOVE IT.

Shoulda done it sooner :p.

(saved the best for last, this one genuinely gets to me. The small noises piling up and frustrating the character, the uncomfortability even in circumstances that shouldnt call for it like a commute, him finally finding some peace in a place where nobody else is around, it all struck me a bit too close to home. Love that there’s art to describe the experience, its gorgeous and reminds me how much I miss walking alone outside of the compound in riyadh :’))

If its all too much, I suggest watching just the last one, amygdala, and see what it has to offer. Its a really nice short film. That’s all for now though.
