We’re so unbelievably unequivocably undeniable unabashedly unbearably back.
So I finally got some time to sit down and write stuff. Yesterday was the trip here to jeddah, before that was the trip to london + the flight to riyadh, today I went over to a cousin of mine the moment I woke up. Its been going along quite fast. But im getting ahead of myself, IM IN JEDDAH AGAIN :D.
Today was especially nice, even if socially draining, given the mess that was both getting here and the last few days in leeds. Lets talk about it.
Ill start with the start of the week first, I had the lab report done. That was simple, just shoved a days worth of time into that and submitted it a couple of minutes before it was due, my sleep took a hell of a hit though. Not the best but it’s just a mock report anyways. Same with the english coursework, but I split it up over the course of a few more days. In those few days I spent my time playing and finishing PSYCHOPOMP, which I did NOT expect to be as weird as it did, or as long. I thought it was a story about a girl who was going crazy, but no shes actually so ahead of the curve and there ARE actually freaky slimy alien creatures and a shadow government AND SHES A QUEEN WITH INSECT WINGS WTFF??????? Its pretty cool, and scared the shit out of me at times. Weird, not the fact that I got scared but the fact that ive now played two horror games back to back, and have two more in my library, who wouldve thought :p.
Last day before I was set to travel, friday, I had classes at 9-10 am, then 2-4 pm. Thats pretty annoying on its own, but given it was ramadan and I couldnt for the life of me sleep before 3, I came into class exhausted. Thankfully, we got out of the 2 pm class early, and that break and the sheer insanity me and my classmates went through because of it was fun. I dont think a single one of us was sane in the common room, talking about the most random shit and just falling asleep for the next 3 hours. It was fun :).
Then the trip to the riyadh happened. The worst of it, the shitty terminal, is in the last post. Other than the terminal though, the train to london and metro to the airport were pretty serene. The plane was also nice, I killed time playing chess and drawing on the remarkable 2, though only for a cumulative hour or so of the 6 hour flight. I managed to beat the hard mode chess AI on white, but couldnt for the LIFE OF ME on black though, which was odd given I play equally weirdly as both sides. The food wasnt crazy, but I enjoyed it quite a lot too.
Though, more interesting than any of the events that happened that day Id say is the feeling that followed me, which is what I spent the rest of the flight occupied with (literally nothing). I have to say, running on 4 hours of sleep the day of and only a couple both days before left my brain in such a haze. It felt surreal. Again, the whole trip, other than the terminal, was serene, but in a way that I could only describe as sort of lethargic. I wasnt tired per se, but the calm thatd washed over me for most of the day was almost overwhelming if that made any sense. I was practically drowning in it. After the mess that was getting on the train, metro and plane, and the several assignments and social bumps, it was almost TOO calm, like my head was in the clouds but even so wanted to fracture into a million pieces all at once. Cool, but crazy. A brain drain of thoughts into a well, but despite my brain’s emptiness, it was still loud. Like I was involuntarily meditating without a semblance of silence. I genuinely dont know how to describe it past that point, hopefully you get the picture, it was odd and I kinda enjoyed it but kinda almost didnt too.
As for yesterday, I went to malak al tawouk before heading out to jeddah. It was pretty good, almost as good as I remembered, but I think I wouldve preffered the regular tawouk instead of the special, the turkey doesnt do it much good. Also, the fact that it was piping hot actually kinda made it taste worse, both me and my dad agreed while eating the second tawouk on the way to jeddah it tasted better cold, given we could actually TASTE the ingredients now. Would go again, given I have the cash for it of course because IT IS EXPENSIVE.
Now the car ride to jeddah, 9 hours as you can imagine is a long time to be sat in a car so we took several breaks. Plenty of mini markets, plenty of stretching. But guess what I found out. An old ice cream brand I use to have, that I thought had changed the flavours of one of my favorite ice creams, actually didnt. Check it out.
… okay, so I looked through all the major supermarket websites, but couldnt find the brand I was talking about. Your just gonna have to trust me on this for now.
Basically, there used to be a rasberry flavored popsicle with vanilla inside id always get as a kid. One of its alternative flavors was purple, and these two were quite easy for me to mess up as a kid. Sometimes id get rasberry, my preffered flavour, only for it to be purple, whatever that flavour was trying to imitate (not grapes ik that at least). One day though, the flavour seemingly disappeared, and all that was left was puke purple on every store freezer. On the way home though, I saw that on the packaging, despite it now being puke purple colored ice cream, it wrote rasberry. I asked my dad what he thought and he was CONFIDENT it was the flavour I wanted. I couldnt have agreed less, but I was willing to eat puke purple. After all, its a good flavour, despite the name im giving it based off its colour, was just salty since rasberry is undeniably better. I couldnt have been more wrong though, I open the package and low and behold my despite its purple packaging its bright red rasberry, which I MEAN WHAT. THE FUCK??????? I MEAN COME ON, I stopped getting the brand altogether for YEARS, and started getting a similar brand a couple of years back that was worse, since the outside of the ice cream was way softer and less tasty, but your telling me THIS WHOLE TIME IT NEVER LEFT??? DAMN. Well, not like it was my favorite anyways, triple flavoured igloo popsicles will forever stay ON TOP, my glorious arctic king with his glacious attire makes THE BEST popsicles, but im happy to have it back. Now I get to enjoy it all over again <3.
(Update, went to a mini market in jeddah and they had the original rasberry packaging, so now im really lost. O well, at least it’s still around :D)
Anywho, the rest of the car ride was cool silence in the wind and dad talk, stuff about music he listens to and islamic lessons thatve been drilled into me a million times over at this point. It was a pretty good time, even managed not to sleep the whole way through so I could get a good nights rest at my grandma, which is where im staying for the next week assuming im not invited for to sleepover anywhere. We made it and completely flattened on our beds, it was pretty great.
Then today, went and saw some cousins. Was a fun time, played with their cat and sat around the family talk just nodding and acting like I understood half the shit they were talking about, the usual. Got a bit boring if im being honest, but given I wont see them for a while after this, and that eid money was COMING IN, I dont quite mind :Y.
Now, as for what IN THE WORLD im doing for the rest of the week, I really need to figure out. I know ill probably be seeing a friend tomorrow, but I really gotta find more to do than that. I love my grandparents place, but I feel oddly uncomfortable for some reason. I GOTTA GET MYSELF OUTTA HERE is what im trying to say, even if its been nothing other than great so far. Something like last time’s imagine monet would be awesome to attend, but I feel like that was more of a one time thing. Ill see if I can find an event as cool as that though.
God I miss imagine monet. What an event. Whoever thought it up, the people in charge of making it happen, I wish them the best. Ill genuinely never forget that day.
Well, thats all for now. Im gonna go flatten in my bed. Goodnight, sweet dreams :).
