yay :D.

SO, long week, nice week, obviously though THE EXAM IS OVER. That’s awesome.

Also, it went suprisingly well. Coming off of the last post, where I just said I’d skip that week, it was only a couple of hours before the exam, and right after writing it I got on the bus and started watching lectures in preperation. When I got to my stop, I stopped by tesco for a meal deal and ran off to the edge and found somewhere to sit and eat.

Then it was just a matter of even more revision. I had about an hour, which, AGAIN, was all just lecture videos. I saw a classmate and we talked a little, but the conversation was cut short by someone announcing it was time to go to the exam hall.

Now time for the exam, I took a quick piss beforehand, and headed over to the hall.

The setup was a little stressful, but nothing big honestly. The exam hall was just a large ass basketball stadium, and it was mostly a matter of deciding where to put my stuff, alongside my large ass coat, before I got to sit down. Then just put some stuff in a ziplock bag and I got started.

So, how was the exam itself? Well, it was alright. Solid.

I know that I got all of the multiple choice questions right except one, which itsef had incorrect answers and was thus ammended so that it was just a free 4 marks for everyone, so that’s a minimum of 48 marks on the exam, which is nice.

For the written questions, I also did a 13 marker PERFECTLY. I skipped the first question, another 13 marker, since I found it easier. Despite that, I did spend too much time on it, but enough to where I was able to fix my mistake (I almost forgot a FUCKING MINUS) and got the whole thing on lock.

So, MINIMUM, 61, which is pretty awesome.

Past that though, I have no idea ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

The rest of the written questions were a pain, inductive proof question included. All things considered I did do most of it well, but I know damn well that at least for the inductive proof, the first written question, it wasnt the full 13 marks.

I wrote what I could, and called it a day. I knew everything that was asked of course, so I really doubt im even getting near 61, but still, I could have done WAY better.

And yea, that’s all there was to it really. I did have some small interactions while doing the exam, but nothing really worth making a big deal over. One invigilator told me there was the wrong amount of time left, but I asked some1 else and he was corrected. Did sort of spike my stress for a minute, but nothing you can’t tank you know?

Regardless, I did decent. Probably not even that close to 61, more like 70+ I’d imagine.

Looking back, i’m honestly really happy with the work I put in, especially given this is my first university exam. 70+ is GREAT for a first time. Still though, I do want to keep up my streak of good marks from high school continuing forward, around the B+ to A+ range.

I’ve always been known for my relatively high marks, and so even if 70+ IS a confirmed pass, it’s certainly not a confirmed A, you know? I’m still really proud of it, it was a week’s worth of blood sweat and tears which I got a good mark out of, but first honors is probably gonna require more than this.

If I had to guess though, the path towards that is pretty simple. I already began to lock in much harder on the last few weeks of the first semester, with a genuine level of understanding that I should have had MUCH sooner, so if I honestly keep up even a little bit of that, ill be alright.

Also, I’d probably continue studying from the start of the vacation till the end next time, instead of waiting till the last week and ditching the material for any amount of time. It’s not impossible to catch up or anything, but the time you take that’s wholly away from the material lets the content that you’ve built up in your mind start to deteriorate by the time you come back to it, which I felt on the first day or two of revision.

Memory requires constant stimulus to function you know? Even small, half hour or hourly reviewing a day would’ve probably keep me on track for a moderately difficult to hard earned A, and it wouldnt take that much out of me looking at it now. I quite liked revising for the subject outisde of the dread of an upcoming exam :).

So yea, pretty solid foundation going into the next semester tommorow.

As a whole, it was a pretty good semester, all things considered. I met some nice people, locked in a new apartment for this year, and got settled in to the cirriculum. Other than the project that we’ll be starting tomorrow, which will probably shake things up in an unexpected way, I think we’re well on our way for good marks.

And of course, you’ll get to hear all about the project too. It’s about building and presenting a microchip from what I remember, but they’ve honestly explained so little I hardly know yet. We’ll just have to see what goes on tomorrow.

Anyhoot, I went celebrating with another classmate right after the exam in the form of some chick-fil-A and light shopping, and that was really neat. The chick-fil-A was DELICIOUS, I got a salad, burger and milkshake, weird combo but it was GREAT, and my friend got nuggets.

We talked about all sorts of stuff, but to our suprise the MANAGER showed up to have a conversation with us as well. Not sure why, but im not complaining. I can only assume it was cuz the dude I was with went to the exam in a suit, he was dapper as hell at the time >:).

It was a nice interaction, and genuinely did a lot to make the place feel like more than just a fast food joint, which was nice of him to do. Especially given the price, my goodness I am NOT used to spending that much for fast food yet, though it’s not like it’s even that much compared to the other restaruants in the city centre (;n_n).

More importantly though, we passed by hmv after we ate, and checked out the CD’s there.

AND I FOUND SOME MACHINE GiRL CDS >:0.

DUDE.

I’ve been looking for machine girl and ANYTHING digital harcore SINCE I CAME TO LEEDS, WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY HAD IT THAT DAY.

As you can imagine, I jumped on that shit immediately, alongside some other CDs too. They only had MG Ultra and Psychowarrior: MG Ultra X on display, and admittedely I shouldve asked them about WLFGIRL but I forgot to, but while I was at the counter I HAD to ask when the hell they’d gotten these in stock, since I’ve been visiting pretty frequently since I came to leeds and they’ve never had any machine girl.

They told me that they recieved those two CDs yesterday.

Yesterday X).

It’s fucking sick, like I was rewarded for finishing the exam. LISTEN IM NOT COMPLAINING, THE TIMING WAS EXCELLENT AND I GOT SOME SWEET TRACKS NOW.

Anyways, we finished up with that and went to argos, where I also decided to buy a CD player.

If your wondering, YES, I WAS very impulsive that day, but hear me out.

I had already built up a sizable amount of CDs before buying the player, AND was thinking about it for a while beforehand, since I even started collecting them in the first place. About time we started listening to the music without ripping them onto my devices, right?

Not like Im gonna STOP doing that, but still.

I got home, set it up, and also set up a cd rack that I’d bought from ali express along with the other items I bought a couple of weeks back.

Unfortunately it did arrive broken (you’ll notice the last row missing cuz its cracked), and the refund system for broken items is so abysmal im probably not getting my money back on that, but I was still able to make the most out of it. Here’s the result, alongside the CD player:

Pretty nice right?

About time I mentioned the other CDs too, I also bought black parade and brat while getting the machine girl CDs.

Black parade and my chemical romance themselves are pretty famous already, and I’ve heard about them A LOT just by osmosis, with parts of the album circulating online as well, so I figured since it sounds like something I’d enjoy I might as well dive into it blind on the player (well, as blind as you CAN be going into an album as popular as this).

I’ve already listened to brat though :p. Charli makes great music, I just wanted to have the CD and own the music offline tbh. Shit’s good.

Also, it was like half off anyways. I imagine cuz of her new upcoming album, wuthering heights. Can’t wait to hear it <3.

CDs aside though, can we talk about the player for a second? The purchase felt a bit fast at the time, even given how much thought I’d given the ordeal beforehand (I’ve always had a hard time justifying the purchase in my mind), but going through with it was honestly such a good idea, I had no idea I’d enjoy myself this much.

For one, it’s REALLY fun to pop in a CD and listen to it, as opposed to just playing it on the phone. Not BETTER per se, but there is a charm to it.

As well as that, I never realized how much my music kept me held on to my phone. Listen, I love to doomscroll as much as the next person, but it was genuinely so easy to put the phone down while I had music on, mostly cuz I didnt really have much of a reason to hold onto it, I could just play or read instead.

Mostly the latter this week, I’ve continued reading the cambridge history of islam, part 1, and finished the first chapter the other day, and it does so much to have some music playing in the background, even really long listens.

WHICH IS ANOTHER POINT.

Not only do some of the albums just feel better to listen to, the actual experience of sitting with a long track is SO much different to how it normally is for me, and I don’t fully know why yet. Normally, even with stuff I REALLY like, it can be hard to get through long 6 to 7 minute tracks since it feels like it drags on a little too long, but while listening on the CD player I can just BREEZE 13 minute tracks like its nothing.

ITS AWESOME >:).

Also, I can hear the lyrics of a lot of tracks much more clearly, which is something I’ve always been bothered by with earphones on, that sometimes I just dont know what the hell people are saying on a track, and that seems to have diminished too, by like 60%.

In particular, Twin Fantasy comes to mind for all this. Honestly the whole album just clicked with me in a way that it didnt the first time around, listening to it after I ripped it onto the macbook.

Maybe it was because of the mood, or the read, or WHATEVER, but it was a really comfortable listen having the singer, will toledo, talk about good and evil in his own mind, which that itself I fucked with HEAVILY, or messing with all those sick noises on the 2nd track, or his escapades on the 7th track. IT’S SUCH A MOOD.

The matter of good and evil especially sat with me, because I 100% agree with his take. In your own mind, in mine, my actions arent ever really a matter of good and evil, or anything in between. You just embody yourself, and do things in accordance with who you are. Sometimes you hit that on the head, and your more ‘you’ as a result of it, more embodied. Sometimes you slip up for one reason or another. You channel your own force, what he described as galvanism, and will yourself onto the world.

At least that’s how I see it.

It’s pretty early to say honestly, I obviously didnt fully digest it, especially while reading, and still plan on listening to it and the rest of the albums like a quintillion times over, but needless to say I had a good time, and buying the player was an INFINITELY wise choice.

I have 0 regrets.

That’s probably where i’ll have to leave the post for now though. I wanna continue listening to psychowarriors, so your going to have to excuse me while I go do that.

Before I go though, here’s some stuff to have with.

I found out about rhis artist, sir chloe, and I really like her stuff. I found her through a really good TADC reel, and have just been playing ‘too close’ on loop for the past 3 days now. Here’s the reel and the album the song’s from:

https://open.spotify.com/album/0Vcu9I1RkUF1VYSVeYwLhR

Ill probably have listened to the album by next week, so it’d be fun to chat about after anybody who’s interested has given it a listen too :).

‘Too close’ especially, it digs into my psyche and fucks with me, its awesome. GO GIVE IT A LISTEN.

Alright, that’s all for now. Again, if you’ve made it this far, thanks for reading. It means a lot <3.

See you all next week.
