Hi :).

Tis the season, and once again, the end of a year. Not just the year itself, but also a year since the last blog post mentioning that it’s been a year :p.

In truth, it’s been a little over two years, but for the sake of consistency with my last post regarding the end of a year’s worth of posting (miles), and to coincide with the new year, let’s both pretend I started writing blogs on this site on exactly the 31st of December 2023 ;).

A lot has happened in that time, probably the most noteworthy of which is that I’m actually a full time student attending the University of Leeds now, but also a lot of other small cool stuff, even something as simple as trying new meals, is something that gives a renewed sense of fulfillment.

So, to start, what happened this week?

Well, like I alluded to last post, I spent a LOT of my time trying to fix the legion go, a steam deck-like system that I got as a gift before moving Leeds given to me by an uncle.

I’m not sure why, but after having left it turned off in its case for a month or two it just totally kaputzed on me, the performance is horrible now and it’s been stuck on 0% charge, needing constant charge to even stay on, which sucks mega balls >:(.

It’s the only device I own that could run x86 games properly, the mac hardly runs windows games well and I’ve been DYING to play fnaf’s 1-6.

So, I tried fixing it.

FOR THREE, DAYS.

At first I thought it was the operating system’s fault, bazzite, so bought a new wired keyboard and mouse (though I’ve wanted a pair for a while anyways) so I could plug them into the damn thing so I could install a new one.

It didnt work.

Then I scoured the web to find and test a bunch of solutions, none of those worked either. Mostly the advice was to unplug the battery at various points while the device is on or off and to plug it back in, or leave it on charge for a long time, and nothing changed.

THEN I bought a new 65 watt plug, noticing that I’d been charging it with low wattages this whole time, STILL NOTHING.

THEN I DISASSEMBLED THE FUCKING THING, checked, reapplied thermal paste while I was at it, the whole ninety-nine point nine nine nine.

Still, pooped.

Damn.

Look, as it always has been with tech, software and hardware errors alike, and maybe even more broadly some issues as a whole, I just havent done enough. Probably should have kept disassembling past just the heat sink and went ahead and did the motherboard while I was at it. It wasnt a FULL disassembly.

Even if it were though, would it have mattered? Probably not honestly. If I had to guess, the batter is just screwed and I need a new one. I’ve been avoiding that cuz I JUST bought a bunch of stuff online not even 2 weeks ago, INCLUDING the new 3DS XL battery replacement, but that reality is sort of creeping up on me.

Ill try disassembling it one more time, a FULL disassembly this time, and see how that goes. Not just to fix it, but honestly also because it was fun to do. It’s literally tech surgery and I’m scooping up the different organs that make the machine work, and it’s fun to play around with the parts that make it tick.

But once that’s over it’s going to a repair shop. I’ve honestly probably had my fill in trying to fix it past that point just look in it one more time and hope there’s a loose cable or something stupid like that.

Aside from trying to fix the LeGo tho, the rest of the week was pretty chill. I had a bunch of mouth ulcers around when the vacation started up till last week, which HURT LIKE HELL, literally anything I’d do (brushing teeth, eating, ANYTHING) felt like HELL ON EARTH, but they were basically gone by last Sunday so I was just munching away.

Tried some new sweets, apple pie looking pastries from B&M, loved those. Sour patch kids, they’re honestly so nice to have around so I dont have to go downstairs for food I LOVED THEM SO MUCH.

And flaming hot Doritos, those were nice to try too. Not as good as flaming hot Cheetos, probably wont bother with them again honestly, but nice to have tried. A solid spice 6 out of 10, especially when it does’nt hurt to eat

For my morning too, I can drink coffee again. LIFE IS JUST SO MUCH BETTER WITHOUT MOUTH PIMPLES

Something else fun that Ive been indulging in now, KNICK KNACKS.

Like the kickstarter items that arrived a couple of days ago, check em out;

First off, I LOVE THE ENA CD, THE ART IS DELICIOUS.

Unfortunate that the case came cracked, but still awesome regardless. Given I get to keep the CD and get a partial refund, you could almost see it as a plus ;).

The pin too, it’ll be perfect on my backpack, though ill put it and the rest of the pins ive been accruing later.

AND THE CARDSS.

If there’s ever a card pack for me to own, it’s this one <3. I’d have it no other way. I’m only playing with these from now on.

Also, I can fiddle around with it and learn how to deal with cards, because right now my dexterity with them is horrible. I ought to mess around and learn some shuffles.

This month has just been full of deliveries in general, even outside kickstarter too. I got a bunch of stuff off aliexpress, and although two of the items, a water bottle and pin, never arrived and finally both got processed for a refund, I got a bunch of other stuff to play with.

A small magnet fidget toy, the vibrating gun for massages, binoculars, a starry sky projector, and A TON and TON of stickers.

It’s honestly just such a mood to be fidgeting while watching a show in the starry projector lights with the LED bulb and projector matching whatever im watching your watching, or staring at the lights with the binoculars, or just snacking and playing on the 3ds now that I’ve got the new battery for it.

Which yea, the shipment also included a new battery, which means not only can I use it unplugged again but I can take it out with me now that it has a case and a clear shell for protection and stickers.

I’ve already been playing and finished Kirby triple deluxe, which is great but also REALLY similar to an entry on the Wii U I’ve already played a million times over, so now I’m jumping into some of the Warioware games, and rhythm heaven paradise.

Rhythm heaven in particular I’ve wanted to play for a long time, and I’ve been having a ton of fun with it already, just playing that alone is fulfilling a wish of mine I’ve had for YEARS of owning a 3ds and playing these games so Im happy I get to do that now.

Though honestly, a lot of this is just that, letting myself have fun with knick knacks that I’ve wanted since forever now, or that just nice quality of life additions, like the cool lighting. I’m happy I finally get to do a lot of this with my adult money :).

So yea, that’s been most of this week, just screwing around with stuff as a whole, as we approach the new month and new year. How about I share some thoughts on that though, the old and new year, to end things off?

The past year has been chaotic, so im happy its finally over, but not bad. DEFINITELY better than 12th grade to foundation year in the year before, that was a pain.

I spent my time learning how to live alone, and still kept most of my old hobbies with me. There were points of tension, like the exams being extra stressful out of a need to be a Uni of Leeds student, and the move to the new house was a pain, but other than that and the constant social stresses and expectations, things are nice.

The freedom also more than makes up for any of it, since that in and of itself isnt something I had like I do now.

The next year I hope will be more of the same, with me taking all the lessons I learned on how to live alone from the last, but with more work. For one, im probably gonna get a job to help sustain myself, so that will LITERALLY be more work, but there’ll also be the increased difficulty of university work, as well as the ever increasing financial cost that I doubt will be alleviated by just a part time job.

Despite that, given things are relatively stable, I think i’ll manage to find a way to make it work. Ill probably switch to a masters and see what scholarships I could get, for one.

Then there’s fun stuff, like games shows and the like, and those are only getting better. We’ll be getting a new deltarune chapter, maybe even a new ena dream bbq chapter, as well as jujutsu kaisen season 3, a silksong dlc WHEN I HAVENT EVEN FINISHED THE GAME YET GODDAMN (I started it back up recently >:)).

And then there’s me myself, and the stuff I wanna do. Again, this year WAS a messy and chaotic rollercoaster, but Ive come out of it much better than before. I hope I can do more stuff that I like without shame. I hope to keep reading cuz that’s been pretty nice. I hope to express myself better, both in what I do and in writing.

At least one of those things I’m already making quite a good bit of progress on. My writing for the start of the year was, in my opinion, much less focused than it is now.

HUGE clumps of paragraphs, many more grammatical errors (not that those matter much), sometimes not even much was being said in a post.

But now things have really gotten better. The posts are more readable, im almost always giving extra material other than just text to read, I have a lot of fun finding an image to go along for the post on the site’s rambling’s section, added the spotify embed to the site and published all of my playlists, ITS SO COOL >:)).

There’s certainly room for improvement, I still am not so sure about my writing as a whole, could be better, but for what it is I like it, and ill probably like it next year too.

So that’s where I’m at right now. There are many horrible things going on in the world as we speak, but for what it’s worth I think we can live well despite that. Hopefully in that regard, things will get better this year too, but the most we can do is keep our spirits up in the meantime.

(and hope the memes next year are better because my god, the memes of 2025 were garbage)
