Nice.

I just had maggi noodles, they were nice.

Though if we’re being honest, its too little (they sell in 4 packs and each packet is noticeably smaller than indomie), especially given the price. Ill probably just go to kirkgate and get myself a box of indomie instead of restocking, but at least it was fun to try :).

(I liked the curry a lot more than the chicken, probably in part due to how much better I made it though).

Anywho, Hi again :D!

Its nice to be back, especially because the latter half of this week took such a quick dip in terms of enjoyment, and ill get to why.

But first, noodles.

Its been a while since I talked about them, so its worth revisiting (and as an excuse to talk about something else too). As mentioned, the past two weeks of instant noodles have been off maggi chicken and curry flavored 4 packs, and while theyre not BAD for 1 pound, they definitely dont top indomie.

Before that was buldak, I was running off two 5 packs of carbonara (pink) buldak, but was having them pretty infrequently.

(I mean come on, theyre HEAVY (delicious though <3))

I would buy them again, especially because thats the cheapest I could find them, if it werent for the price and pure weight.

For one, 5 pounds is the cheapest price available (it was usually 9 sometimes priced at 11 (-_-;)) but for two or three 5 packs, I could probably get a whole box from kirkgate market. I could get different flavors too, which is a plus since the home bargain I got the carbonara from ONLY had buldak carbonara.

And again, the buldak noodles are HEAVY, those are some THICK ass noodles. Delicious, but not something I can have regularly.

Though I have to say, having been away from indomie for so long (damn :’) and trying to make other noodles work reminded me of something I havent realized in a while.

I miss broth based noodles. Ive been going low on water, and keeping it creamy with milk, but I havent had instant noodles with good broth in way too long.

It started with me just pouring too much water when I was making the maggi noodles, so I put the seasoning packet (plus some chicken powder) and gave that a shot, and I could swear to you that when I drank from the bowl, after having a mouthful of the noodles, that I went back in time for the remainder of that meal.

It felt, refreshing, drinking all the broth, and it TASTED amazing >:).

Not even really a nostalgia thing, I’ve never been one to romanticize my childhood (ESPECIALLY given most of it) but id be remiss if I didnt mention that I did feel a bit of longing. Its been a while since I had Indomie with my teen sister. I should do that sometime.

ANYWAYS IT WAS REALLY GOOD AND IM GONNA MAKE IT MORE.

Not sure how itd fit into the grocery bills though.

Right, THE GROCERY BILL.

Im gonna try cutting down on my groceries going forward, since I’ve been spending too much. That, and I just dont have as much space in the fridge to store food (thought the mini fridge down the line will hopefully help), so in a way id be killing two birds with one stone. Ive already got the essentials figured out, and I’ve already got lentils, chickpeas, and beans, and the main meals would be:

Lentil stew,

Chili,

and probably chickpea and brown rice.

The idea is to just ditch chicken and meat, and focus on legumes. Theyre cheaper and just as if not more nutritious as their animal based counterparts.

Id also have some skimmed milk, bannana, frozen berries, nuts and wheatbisks/porridge oats for breakfast or dinner, they work well on either time of day.

Some salmon every week too, good to have oily fish once a week.

Still though, that does leave room for one more meal, doesnt it? I could have the oats or wheatbisks twice a day, and honestly its not my worst idea, but id rather go with something else that would leave my body satisfied in terms of nutrition. I kinda wanna go for eggs, but its not like I can have it everyday (its just not good to have a lot of every week). Not the indomie either, thats cheap and nice to have as an indulgence to enjoy myself every once and a while, but is pretty nutritionally weak.

Though now that I think about it, if I were to cut up some vegetables, like an onion, bell pepper and some mushrooms, that would make it pretty nutritionally sound right?

Still though, that would be me FIGHTING to make the food more healthy, and it would never really reach the level of any of the other meals…

So yea, I dunno yet, but in all fairness I still have some frozen turkey slices, so ill just stick to turkey sandwiches in the morning till I lock in a full grocery list and set of meals I can roughly plan out for a whole week. Till then, saving some money buy sticking to the main three lunches that are running off legumes works well enough for me to keep costs down.

And im going to need to keep at it if I wanna buy the mini fridge and actually have myself some more fridge space. We’ll get there eventually though.

Anyways, this week as a whole has been quite tiring. At first it started off pretty tame, like any other, and the first couple of days were standard university activity, until I noticed an email from the uk government.

The visa was still pending, and I needed to send in my birth certificate.

That, and the university registration and id check hit me all at once since they sort of rely on each other, but thankfully I was able to get that done by wednesday or so, so no big deal. Thats not really what derailed my week anyways.

A roommate was.

Look, ive been doing my best since I moved to keep everyones shared space clean, the kitchen can turn into quite a mess. I bought tissue, took out the trash daily, shared my equipment and cleaning bottles, I tried my BEST to make sure we worked together on keeping the place clean. But as of late, and mostly because we havent agreed on any rules or chores yet, its only ever taken one bad thing to derail the kitchen.

Often, the kitchen sink gets clogged. I unclogged it just two weeks ago, and its already clogged again :[.

The hob (digital stove) gets dirty. Out of kindness and the faint hope that itd encourage THE ROOMMATE WHO DIRTIED IT to clean up better, I went ahead and scrubbed it thoroughly with baking soda + vinegar for them, but only after theyd remove their stain first.

This is all on top of the SEVERAL times theyve left my pressure cooker or air fryer dirty at night before heading to bed, hoping that I wouldnt check (and its the ONE FUCKING RULE I GAVE FOR THEM TO BE ABLE TO USE IT >:[).

This got so bad btw that they bought their own air fryer, they were that lazy in not being able to clean my airfryer after using it (but they still used my pressure cooker >:/)

All of this is the same roommate if your wondering, the other two arent anywhere near as dirty.

(theres also the fact that this roommates partner practically lives with them, and thats A WHOLE other thing, but your getting the picture, its not fun living with this person)

So, given ALL OF THIS, ive still been doing my best to make things work, and for a while it seemed like it was. Despite the many times they made things painful, even using a utensil of mine without permission, I thought we were going in the right direction.

Only for me to wake up one day for class, on a thursday I believe, to TWO RANDOM STRANGERS IN THE KITCHEN AND A COMPLETE FUCKING MESS.

The table was dirty and sticky, filled with a pack of beer, pringles can, 2 big bottles of coke, the floor was dirtier, my appliances were unplugged, the bathroom spray was downstairs??(I told them to leave the bottles at the top of the stairs)???

And amidst all of this, two random strangers, likely a couple, chilling at 9 in the morning, taking up space like they own the place, while the roommate and their partner sit upstairs in their bed.

That was the last straw for me, I took all my appliances and bottles upstairs, im not sharing shit anymore (not like it was ever worth it, this one person was the only person who used my shit anyways). Ive been re-organizing ever since.

The plan at the moment is to make myself enough space to leave my appliances in my kitchen cupboards, and only take them out when I wanna use them. On top of that, im just done policing people on basic fucking hygiene, trying to encourage them to clean up after themselves. That one person that im talking about clearly doesnt care about anyone else (lives here like its their house and no-one else’s), theyve shown as much by how they conduct themselves in the kitchen, one other roommate couldnt give two rat’s asses whether or not the kitchen is clean or not, and the third is just minding their own business cooking in the kitchen. Ill probably have to be more like them from now on.

The kitchen cant really be the way I want it to be anymore, clearly given the circumstance, so my best bet is to be as detached from it as possible, and focus on everything else. Ill try my hand at making nutritious meals I can store well, clean after myself where I can but nothing more.

Its a bit of a shame that that’s how this situation ends, but there are some nice perks. For one, I’ve spent A LOT of time cleaning the kitchen, and now ill have more of that time to myself. My appliances will also be much better off now.

No more sharing my stuff either, I was sharing my oils and tissue but thats all straight in my cupboard now, all for me >:).

So maybe it wont be all too bad. Who knows, maybe by next year i’ll be out of here, and I can just live the good life of an en suite and an extra fridge :).

(Ill probably have to have a job for me to afford that though)

So CASE SHUT, screw that roommate and their uncleanliness and uncouth kitchen standards, GOOD RIDDANCE (*-m-)

Anywho, I gotta get going, dont wanna miss out on sleep for tomorrow’s lecture (its the programming class HELL YEAH). Was nice seeing you again this week, thanks for reading this weeks post too. I dont have any cool animations to share at the moment, but if you want something cool to listen to go listen to lexycat. Ive been obsessed with their stuff recently.

Flowerfield (specifically . goodnight and ginseng) , magic 7/11, glitter (ofc >:)), cassette, ash my cigarette, its all FUCKING AWESOME. She’s got this edge and crunch to her music, and it trickles its way into my brain and right into my amygdala its so good. Choose whichever song from the ones I just gave you and enjoy yourself, hopefully you like it.

Alright, goodbye now <3.
