Soup Spoon

Hey, whatsup?

This weeks been really fun, even if im pretty exhausted. Met a lot of new people, many of which are the type that I NEVER would have thought id meet, like this random guy the other day that recognized yumme nikki on my desktop, which genuinely short circuited my brain.

Its just that, theres a couple of buttons that I wouldnt expect people to press, you know? Pretty once in a lifetime, but now its almost casual.

As an example, from start to finish, elementary school till now, ive never met people who’ve themselves ALREADY, NOT ONLY finished celeste in its entirety, but they themselves modded it and watched a very specific shitpost from LITERALLY JUST A MONTH AGO, and thats NOT EVEN THE LAST GUY ITS ANOTHER PERSON. LIKE WHAT???????

Thats basically what im getting at. Certain indie games, art and maybe potentially music that I would just NEVER expect to be brought up in any capacity , and ive met SEVERAL people who know them in the span of a week, its genuinely overwhelming, but I love it. It feels right, like I was meant to end up here.

So far, its mostly been on the gaming front to be fair. I go to the union building, play in the gaming center, and celeste just has a way of starting conversation, which is nice :).

Theres also yumme nikki guy, who’s IN MY CLASS, alongside another really cool classmate I got to know, and a couple of other people ive introduced myself to, its been great.

I am curious how much further I can take it though. Id love if I could meet more people to talk to about art and music (maybe ill finally find someone who listens to femtanyl????:0?), though if im being honest itd probably be really emberassing. Out of all of the hobbies, games are easily the one I have the most of my marbles on, I dont draw much and I still havent gotten around to the piano, but thinking like that is only really gonna hurt me in the long run.

Even if its true that id end up emberassing myself however I do, I still might as well get it out of the way for the sake of enjoying myself in the long run, or at the very least learning something out of it.

Still, even seeing it this way at all is wrong. Its not that serious.

Fuck it, ill just enjoy myself :). No need to worry about impressions or where my skill is at, thats boring. Let me just figure where I can find people to talk to about thsi stuff naturally and ill try things out.

Probably a club or two. Wish me luck.

Anyways, classes are ACTUALLY starting tomorrow, we’ve past orientation, so ive finally got a working schedule. That, and im cooking at home now that my space is relatively clean (im not BLEEDING money anymore x)), so im excited to see how things progress. Ill probably start piano classes this month too, since now that I have the schedule I can work around it, but ill probably give myself sometime to asjust to the schedule first.

The difficulty too, I wonder how hard the course is gonna be? I tried to gauge it based off what they had to say during orientation, but it wasnt much honestly. They mostly talked to us about registration, community, extracirriculars and such.

We DID get put on linux, they had us try their pc’s which all had redhat installed on them, which was nice, but that still doesnt say much.

Was nice to be off of macOS though :].

SPEAKING OF, I really want to sell it honestly. I got the mindwave merch I ordered a couple of weeks ago, including the stickers that I planned to put on my laptop, but said laptop being the mac feels like such a waste >:/. I HATE THIS LAPTOP IT SUCKS.

Im thinking of getting a lenovo laptop, but honestly anything that isnt apple works. I dont need much when it comes to a laptop honestly, all im really looking to do with a laptop is code and play easy to run indie games, both of which this shitty laptop makes harder than it needs to be (well, not much on the coding the coding is fine but gaming on this SUCKS).

Plus, I could install redhat on a different laptop, get accustomed to it and have all the software installed on my laptop instead of having to ssh into university computers, which would be nice.

Just linux in general is really fun, and macinstosh sucks.

MAN APPLE IS JUST THE WORST >:(, I WANT OUT.

This dumb laptop is the only apple device I own, and I cant wait to get rid out of apples grubby hands. Ill have to talk to my family about that first though. I know my dad will think im crazy for wanting it gone, but maybe thatll be my out and I can just trade laptops with him or smthn, who knows :p.

This is really weird to say, but im really craving a specific kind of detective story. I think it has to do with the games that ive been playing.

Its mostly been very plot heavy games, often light novels, so the shadow over cyberspace, which I loved, slay the princess, danganronpa, theyve all sort of fed that craving somewhat.

My mind also goes back to 2 mobile games id played as a kid, 7Days, a mystery survival where your choices lead you down weird paths in the middle of a zombie apocolypse-esc adventure, and a 2nd game that I cant quite remember the name of.

The 2nd games a detective story, and I believe your a detective whos brought to figure out who in the bigass luxriousass building killed some1, who I totally forgot the look and name of :p. All I even remember is the killer was really skinny and tall looking, and that I did NOT expect it to be her, and that made me really happy because it was fun getting duped.

I want something like that again. A choose your own adventure mystery (possibly survival too), with a cool setting and a problem I myself can wrap my brain around like how youd try to escape an escape room or solve hard riddles. Doesnt matter what medium, I just want that from any piece of media right about now and I thought id share it :). Its something that I cant get enough of.

For now though, I wanna to go back to sherlock holmes, I remember reading some on a flight, either to london or out of london on the way here a couple of months ago, and its stuck with me. Dunno which book, but thatd be fun to try.

Though if you have any suggestions, do let me know :0. Id love to hear about it.

Glad I got that out of my brain. Not even gonna try and fit it into the post in a coherent way, segwaying into that, im literally just plopping it in there inbetween a bunch of slashes because I HAD TO GET THAT OUT OF MY BRAIN SOMEHOW.

Anyways, how about some food to cap off the post?

(yes im hungry shut up)

Heres some beef and rice I made this morning. Half is in the fridge, and the other half is in the freezer.

No real set recipe, I just did what I could with the ingredients. Cooked the minced meat, then added some garlic chilli and ginger near the end, cooked the veggies in the beef fat, and added them to the rice. The beef itself was also enhanced with soy sauce, fish sauce, corn syrup, chicken powder salt and pepper, but I really need to get chicken buillion powder instead of chicken powder, its skewing the taste of the dish in a direction I dont quite like.

Second, and lastly for now,

Vegetable soup with rice, chicken and veg :).

The soup is what really killed me in all of this, I made the chicken stock from scratch after breaking down the whole chicken, then went straight into making the soup with like half an hours left of energy in me for the day. I probably shouldve done it on another day, but we’re past that now. Besides, IT WAS WORTH IT.

I added some extra stock that id frozen, that was made with mushrooms, and it gave it a whole new PLANE of umami, it was delicious. That, and its really hard to mess up the spices for vegetable soup when it already tastes as good as it does with just the basic seasonings :p.

Next time ill be adding some more veggies to the stock though, see how that goes.

As for the chicken, I marinated them in some soy sauce, corn starch, sugar and chicken powder, and it turned out really good! It was the tastiest ive had it, so im probably gonna try something similar next time with some modifications and see how it goes.

There was also the rest of the chicken though, which I cooked all at the same time (the day after making the vegetable soup). I gave them all a saltwater brine, and gave them all different seasonings too.

The thighs were my favorite, followed by a spice blend on the breasts my mom gave me before id moved, with the chicken tenders in last being seasoned with a fried chicken blend of flour and other spices, but its still pretty inconclusive regardless.

The main reason is the brine, it made the chicken OVERLY juicy, and so I didnt cook it as much are at as high of a heat as I should have. Dont get me wrong it was JUICY, and bacteria free since id checked them all with a thermometer, but given how much extra water they have now theyre gonna need MUCH higher heat to get the right texture.

So next time I buy a whole chicken, ill be doing the test again >:). Ill let you know how it goes.

Alright, thats all for now, I gotta go get ready for tomorrow. I wish you guys the best. Thanks for catching up for this week, see you all next post :).
