Yea idk how to start this.

Its been a very study focused week, with the lab report due on friday and all, and then I had a peep over two days in a row and that was fun (both days we’d go out and do stuff then come back over to my place and chill). I never really acknowledged it in my mind, but yea. I can sort of just, have people over. No need to ask or plan or, anything really.

ITS AWESOME

We had japanese street food and talked about life and I GOT SHAMPOO FOR MY DANDRUFF (ive been using regular shampoo for like 2 weeks and am getting so much dandruff because of it my hoodie once looked like someone dropped a line of cocaine it it, so its a welcome change to have it back)

But also I do have to take care of the house enough for it to be suitable to have people over, and it becomes a bit harder to do that with exams and assignments around the corner. I find myself cutting corners to take some weight off of my mind, and I honestly cant enjoy stuff like drawing or playing the piano when there’s stuff to do. But mostly, it mostly comes in the form of procrastinating on my dishes :p.

Dw the lab report is done I DID GET MY DISHES DONE, TWICE NOW.

But now that the lab report IS done, I at least have some time to rest before the next big hurdles, the physics and math exams. Truth be told, I have 3 exams over the next 2 days. 2 tomorrow, and 1 the day after. But theyre all english (basically ielts variant), and are pretty easy, so im not concerned.

Right now, im just totally deflated, and am taking the time to loosen up. Re-lax. Unwind. Its nice. Still though, I wanna share some stuff, so lets share.

I think it’d be fun if you knew about my cd scavenging. Basically, seeing how I was looking for a cd player back when I was in riyadh visiting my family, my dad gave me a cd writer he had stuffed somewhere in his office, but not without letting me know how odd and outdated cd’s are of course. I thought id make use of it, so I went scavenging for some music.

my first thought was hmv, since its the most packed. Theyve got a lot, films, movies, music, merch, more merch, shirts, posters, drinks, probably more. Going through everything, there were a lot of eye catchers.

Its what you’d expect of course, tyler the creator, Tame impala, beabadoobee, mitski (been listening to her a lot recently), tons of gorillaz, a lot a lot of arctic monkeys, kendrick lamar, weezer (seeing weezer always makes me laugh that stupid riff wont leave my brain), A LOT of radiohead (like please let me drill that into you, EVERY SHOP HAD RADIOHEAD, ALL. OF. THEM.), but my personal favorite that I got to see was half alive <3. Havent listened to their new album yet, ill probably buy it sometime l8r, but I went with another album, you’ll see.

Anywho, I got my album the second day I went there, cuz I wanted to show a friend some stuff. Something that was annoying me though, the store didnt have any cool electronic music. Not even stuff I didnt know, moreso they just didnt seem to care about it. Every genre had several aisles dedicated to them, like pop and heavy metal and blues, but the entirety of edm was just squished down into one column’s worth, and even then there were several not-edm cds in there. Also, and this ends up being a recurring theme in the adventure, most stores just boil it down to daft punk.

I like daft punk, daft punk is sick (even from the little ive heard (i should honestly check them out soon)), but it honestly pissed me off. GIVE ME CHASER, GIVE ME MG ULTRA OR ANYTHING CLOSE TO THEM I KNOW IM ASKING FOR A MIRACLE FRANKLY BUT IM FEEEEEEEEENING FOR IT, PLEASE ITD BE AWESOME.

So, the search for cool electronic music continues to more record stores. But as you can imagine, its about the same deal. More arctic monkeys, SO MUCH RADIOHEAD, and daft punk as basically the entirety of the electronic music, which itself is delegated to 1 column or less. That went for the cd place beside hmv, as well as two other shops that id visit over the next 2 days in trying to find some electronic bizz.

On the second last record shop, I asked them why it seemed so hard to find any electronic music, and they laid it out for me pretty plainly. “The city doesnt really have any, your better off buying them online”. They suggested I go to the 2nd record store Id visited, the one after hmv, not knowing I already went. So yea, mentally id already thrown in the towel, even if I was gonna continue visiting for the fun of it. Honestly, its really fun going around looking for new stuff that youd never find otherwise.

But, theres still the last record shop.

I still hadnt visited crash records, which to their credit was the most likely to have a bunch of electronic music to mess with. AND THEY DELIVERED BIG.

THERE WERE BOXES OF ELECTRONIC MUSIC. IT WAS WILD. I only went through One row, and even that one row was packed to the gorge, and it was so sick. Honestly the whole experience was sick, and im still totally planning on getting persona (half alive’s album) later when I got the cish cash for it, as well as just mucking about and discovering songs.

But for now, I stuck with two albums, both of which ive never listened to or known shit about. Check it out

They’re Versus and twin fantasy, and I dont know squat about either of them.

Since that second visit to hmv ive wanted to try new stuff out, so as much as I wanted to get flower boy or persona, they were both from artists I already really liked (even if I still havent(BUT SHOULD) listen to both). I wanted something super duper fresh, and id seen these two goober looking dogs sometime b4, but couldnt remember from where. Theyve been in the recesses of the recesses ofnmy mind for like a year now, and I honestly just fuck with the album cover, its good art. So I got it.

Its about the same for versus by various productions, which was such a confusing name for a band while researching its origins since I thought at first it meant the album was made by various artists. Its made up of a duo and was released in 2008, and somehow ended up on crash records. I liked the art, bought it too.

Also just found out twin fantasy has a little leaflet hidden in it with the lyrics and some sweet art

Havent properly listened to them yet, just cuz today is the first day ive gotten the time to fully unwind (tho me and the peep did listen to some of both) and even then I had to get groceries and all, but Ill probably listen to them fully sometime this week and give you my full thoughts on them. From what I did listen to tho, theyre both pretty cool. Twin fantasy is sick indie rock, and versus is a bunch of fun remixes of songs ive never heard of, sound similar gabemtnz if youve heard him, but with their flare :).

As for albums I HAVE listened to this week tho, galdive’s blue has been a fun listen. You may already remember bloom since its on there and ive mentioned it in another post, but having listened to the whole album now I have to say the whole thing is such a treat, I genuinely cant think of a better album to unwind to right now. Not every track is a smash hit, I feel like parts of it are repetitive sometimes, but GOD do some of these hit hard in literally the bestest way possible.

Imo the whole album is the most “lounge sports” sort of vibe you could ever imagine. I could imagine myself bowling, playing billards or cards and listening to blue for HOURS. I really like ghost, and recently I CANT get enough of joker and I dont know why. Of course tho, bloom, teach me how to love, and blue (the track not the album lol) are awesome too. It’s worth your time, you should go check it out.
