FOOBAR2000

It’s coming up.

VISA’S DONE. Suprisingly fast honestly. I havent even processed just how big a change this is all gonna be yet, but im up for it. More concerningly, HOW THE HELL am I gonna take all my stuff/????? At least i’ve got a lot of time to figure it out, but it’s probably gonna be a pain in the ass.

For one, the pc isnt coming. I could dissasemble it, but even so I doubt the parts are coming with me on the flight. That, and the case is sure as hell not coming. Small cost compared to everything else though so if I can manage to ship the rest of the parts, ive got no problem. BUT THE GUITARS????????? I genuinely dont know.

Havent booked it yet, but its definetely november 20th. That gives me 5 days to prep, 4 if you dont count the day of the flight, for university. We’ll book it soon, but the finer details of the trip like the luggage, chosen airline, timings, and my dad not having gotten his passport yet will probably keep us from booking the flight for a couple of more days.

Now, I got a trial running on spotify the other day. Thought i’d see how it compared to youtube music. Ive been looking to switch to something else for a while now, and spotify is much better socially since everyone is on it and shares playlists there anyways. Its a nice plus, but the main reason ive wanted to switch for so long is the customizability, which im clueless on. So let me give some context.

I was introduced to music streaming for the first time before i’d even owned a pc, back when fortnite had first came out and I spent all my time on the ps4. Back then, a friend introduced me to spotify. IT WAS CRAAAAAAAAZY. I never used anything like it, I found it awesome.

Still though, its on a console.

I never got a good understanding of it since it was always playing it through the dedicated player the ps4 had integrated for it, not actually opening the app and using it that way. Other than the first time id opened it, I didnt dabble with the software too much. Got it on my phone just to play songs on the ps4 easier.

Eventually I did get it on desktop, my old 2012 mac. Still though, never really dabbled in it other than for the playlists id crappily made on my phone. And btw, I DIDNT HAVE PREMIUM AT ALL. All that music streaming, all on shuffle if it was on my phone. Big pain.

Nearly 2 years ago now though, my dad got youtube premium for the whole family. Switched to youtube music since then and never looked back. That’s about the whole story.

OOOOOOOK. So, why switch back right? Well for one, WHY THE HELL IS THERE NO APP? Is it that hard for GOOGLE, OF ALL COMPANIES to create a DESKTOP APP for their MUSIC APP? Then, theres the customizability. Its barebones as hell, AS HELL. I WANNA TINKER, fuck around with the WHOLE library, change the look of whatever I can. I wanna mess around with the colours of the app, personalize the living hell out of it. BUT I CANT. So im here, knowing everyone I know uses spotify, other than my family on youtube music. I dont like what ive got, want more, and spotify was cool right? That’s present day, and now im here trying out spotify again. Had a feeling it might be cool, even if I already sorta remember some of it and I knew it wouldnt be everything I wanted. Already looks way cooler than youtube music though.

So, can I tinker with the library like I wanted to? I CANT, WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?????????????? Cant even put podcasts in a folder, AS IF I WOULD if it werent for the rest of it being STIFF AS HELL. Doesnt feel like I can do much. Tbh though, I could just be dumb. Im speaking too early, I did just get on it 2 days ago. Still, was fun to share the timeline on my music streaming 🙂

And honestly, im moving away from streaming as a whole anyways. I know it’s weird to say that, especially after I gave you a timeline and all, but i’d like to own the music digitally rather than stream it. Its cooler, and I can do more with it. Put it on different devices, ultrakill jukebox is still a fun time, play the songs anytime anywhere without internet(tbf not changing anything but hear me out I got more), and support the artist more directly. That, and it’s not like you can access all music on streaming platforms anyways, like flower boy, which I just found out is banned for everyone in the middle east. Shame, but I could always just own it. That or use a vpn. One seems more convenient than the other though.

Also, imagine owning all your favorite albums, collecting them one by one, and fleshing out a collection. Even digitally, IT JUST SOUNDS FUN MAN. I want to, wanna, gotta. So far ive got all of femtanyl’s discography(except for Worldwide for whatever reason) and omori’s ost owned, but once I get my money back on the cassette not arriving ill probably buy a few more albums. IM DEFINTELY GETTING DEMON DAYS, think ill get some of kendrick lamar’s albums as well, been really loving his stuff. Not a big listener of his, but I wanna be. Igor was amazing too and ill get it for sure when I can, and I really wanna see flower boy and call me if you get lost. Ive always loved arctic monkeys, brianstorm, crying lighting, teddy picker, its all such a chill listen, and I mean it literally. So Ive GOT to get them too. Half alive always makes my day yet ive never listened to them properly aside from a few songs im ADDICTED to. Probably some other video game ost’s too, celeste and undertale both share a very comfortable place drilled into my hippocampus so theryre garunteed. God theres a lot my wallet would hurt and we arent even close to done naming theres so many awesome people, but this is getting too long and dragging us off the point, so back to it.

So, past the point of having all the albums I like, making the playlist through ACTUALLY CUSTOMIZABLE SOFTWARE, making it fit me as best I can, cool time. Right now im on foobar2000, really fun music player with EVERY FEATURE UNDER THE GODDAMN SUN. Really, if a music streaming site ever even got close to it’s level of features i’d probably ditch ALL OF THIS TALK, but I dont have to >:). Not even gonna pretend I’ve customized it fully, it genuinely gives you full freedom to the point where it’s a bit daunting, but ive got a theme I like and ill work off of it from there slowly but surely.

For now though, ill still be on spotify and youtube music for a majority of my music listening, other than for when im feeling the few songs I do own and wanna play them. Ill have to own a lot to be able to actually listen to my music mostly owned, and streaming will always be a nice way to check out an album before commiting to buying it. That might not be true for every album or single though, im sure there’ll be one that comes up that I want to just get immedietaly and shred through without trialing it on a streaming service. Also, im definitely making playlists on my spotify account from now on, just for everyone else’s convenience and if anyone asks for a playlist of mine.

That’s it for now. Didnt expect to ramble for so long to be honest, was fun as hell though. Thanks for the read, See you later :D.
